About Us Who We Are Mission Statement Our mission is to make a positive difference to the lives of unpaid carers in the diverse communities of Redbridge by providing them with a range of services, support and recognition. There are 27,000 carers in Redbridge, around 10% of the local population (Source: 2011 National Census). Knowing that services are locally available at RCSS, and that we are there to help and reduce many problems faced by carers, is very important to them. Carers play such a vital role and, without them, the health and social care system would collapse in Redbridge. This economic contribution amounts to an estimated £344 million (Source: Carers UK 2007). The economic value of the contribution made by carers in the UK is £132bn a year (Source: Carers Trust 2019). Timeline of our History 1994 Redbridge Carers Support Service was founded by a handful of local carers in 1994. 2011 In 2011 we had a royal visit from Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal. 2012 Following that, we had another royal visit, this time from Her Majesty the Queen, to open The Valentine's Diamond Jubilee Dry Garden. 2013 RCSS was awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Award for Voluntary Service in 2013. 2015 We celebrated 20th Anniversary with a special lunch at Central Library, Gloucester and York rooms. 2025 We proudly celebrated our 30th Anniversary with the community, marking three decades of supporting carers in Redbridge.
