We are delighted that the Worshipful the Mayor of Redbridge, Councillor Roy Emmett, has chosen Redbridge Carers Support Service and the Young Adult Carers Project as his charitable focus for the coming year.

The Young Adult Carers Project aims to support young adult carers, facing exclusion and disadvantage because of their caring role, to make an effective transition to functioning adulthood. Their goal is to support young adult carers to access education, employment, volunteering or training opportunities to attend to their own development needs and have a voice in Redbridge and beyond.

We provide one-to-one information, advice and guidance on a range of topics including health and wellbeing, carers rights, employment, education and training, and more. Young adult carers can access peer support groups, social activities, and personal and professional development workshops and training.

What can I do to support the Appeal?

There will be lots of fundraising events and opportunities over the next 12 months and we would love for you to be involved!

You can support the Appeal by:

I am a young adult carer and I would like to get involved.

We would love to have as many young adult carers involved as possible to make the most of this opportunity.

You can choose to be involved to whatever extent works for you. You may like to:

  • Become a member of a young adult carer fundraising committee to advise on our activities and events
  • Volunteer to attend fundraising events to represent the project and raise awareness about young adult carers (with a staff member)
  • Run your own fundraising activity to support the Mayor's Appeal
  • Champion the Appeal by spreading the word and encouraging others to get involved

If you are interested in volunteering as any of the below (or if you have any ideas for fundraisers), please let us know by emailing Kate at [email protected]
