Volunteers
Redbridge Carers Support Service currently has Volunteer opportunities.
- Do you have an hour or two to spare each week?
- Do you want to make a difference to the lives of unpaid carers who are housebound or over the age of 75?
- Do you have a caring, understanding, patient and open-minded attitude?
- Do you want to volunteer for an organisation that is dedicated to providing support for carers in Redbridge?
- We provide training, opportunities and ongoing support. We are also happy to provide references for our successful volunteers.
As a Volunteer, your principle role will be to provide either practical or emotional support for older cares 75+, or those who are housebound. Tasks will not include personal care (i.e. help with washing, dressing, etc...). If you wish to become a befriender, this entails making regular contact with the carer via telephone, home visits or a combination of both. You will be there to provide vital social interaction for someone who may be at risk of acute isolation.
Practical tasks that volunteers may perform include help with light domestic tasks such as ironing, vacuuming, dusting etc... We also welcome volunteers who can provide driving assistance to enable carers to get to the shops or appointments with someone they trust.
We understand that volunteer participation contributes greatly to our organisation and we value your time. In return, we offer training, guidance and ongoing support. We may also be able to provide additional training fro time to time, and are happy to provide references for our volunteers should they need them.
We welcome applications from people who can spare a few hours a week to volunteer their time. Whether you are interested in office duties or involving yourself with our carers, we would love to hear from you. We have so many interesting projects running at the moment such as the Training Project, the Older Carers Project and The Munch Club to name a few.
You can be from any walk of life, aged 18+, maybe have skills in another language. Please feel free to talk to us about yourself and what kind of thing you would like to do. Please be aware that you will need to have an enhanced CRB check done before you can visit carers in their homes, this is free of charge for volunteers.
