Who is a Carer?

Home

A person who provides care and support to somebody who is ill, frail, or elderly.  Carers are unpaid relatives, friends or neighbours who may provide care and support from a few hours a week to full time, in their own home or in the home of the person they care for.

This is different to a home care worker or care assistant who is a paid worker or care assistant who is a paid worker employed to provide care.

The aim of Redbridge Carers Support Service (RCSS) is to offer advice, information and support to all carers in the London Borough of

Redbridge, and to raise awareness of the needs of carers with the statutory services and other agencies.

RCSS is a voluntary organization which was set up in 1994 in recognition of the major role of the informal carer in our community.
