Caring For Children And Adults With Special Needs

Statutory Services

Redbridge Children’s Centre, Kenwood Gardens , Barkingside is run by the Redbridge Primary Care Trust. When contacting the Centre please ask for a copy of their Parents Information Pack which gives details of the wide range of services available, including home visiting, medical and nursing input, speech and physiotherapy, clinical and educational psychology together with info rmation on dietary needs, hearing and dental needs etc. Contact The Children’s Centre on 020 8924 6111

Redbridge Learning Disability Team provides assessment, support, advice, treatment and care packages to people with a learning disability, and advice and training to service users and their carers, within Redbridge.  The team also help with supporting people who have a learning disability to stay in good health - a Health Action Plan can be offered to help with this. Loxford Hall Child & Family Consultation Centre (Children & Families Consultation Service in partnership with North East London Mental Health NHS Trust and LBR), specialises in helping families with children and young people up to the age of 18 with emotional, behavioural or relationship difficulties. 

Referrals from anyone who is concerned about a child, i.e. GP’s, Health Visitors, Schools, Social Workers and other professionals. Tel: 020 8478 7211 Mon to Fri 9. 00 am – 5. 00pm to make an appointment.

Children & Families Advice Centre, a section of the Social Services Department of the local authority that accepts referrals from anyone concerned about a child.  They can be contacted on 020 8708 5353 daily from 9 am - 1 pm and 2 pm - 4 pm at Ley Street House, 497 - 499 Ley Street , Ilford , IG2 7QX

Redbridge Parent Partnership Scheme - This scheme is for parents of pupils with special educational needs.

This scheme is:

§       To support parents of children with special educational needs (SEN) in obtaining a suitable education for their child.

§      To enable parents of children with SEN to take an active role in the decisions about their child's education.

§      To encourage partnership between parents, schools and other services, voluntary organisations and professionals in meeting the needs of children with SEN.
